Western Australia goes to the ballot box this weekend, and the opposition is staking its hopes on a grand canal idea. The 3700 km canal would bring northern water to the dry south west, and its source would be the Fitzroy River in the Kimberley. The people with the most at stake are the Karajarri people. They’ve just spent ten years achieving title over their land and now they’re worried they’ll have another fight on their hands. Karajarri spokesperson Mervyn Mulardy spoke to Trevor Dodds.
