With the ratification of the Kyoto Protocol last week, global warming and climate change has been at the forefront of everyone’s mind. Friends of the Earth and Oxfam Community Aid Abroad meet in Adelaide tonight to discuss how global warming and rising sea levels pose a significant hazard to pacific island communities. Friends of the Earth campaigner Stephanie Long says Australia’s signature to the Kyoto Protocol could help solve the problem, and losses suffered by the fossil fuel industry could be offset by boosts to industries such as tourism.
