With COVID-19, the Federal government announced Australians could withdraw up to $10,000 from their superannuation this financial year and the following one.

According to industry fund HESTA, young female members in their mid-20s have withdrawn substantial amounts of superannuation. They argue this will leave many young women vulnerable later in life.

The Federal government will assess the superannuation system once the pandemic is over, and HESTA has proposed recommendations they say will make the system fairer for women and low-income workers.
