The government’s Work for the Dole expansion is receiving community backlash. Many welfare groups are saying they are locking people into a cycle of unemployment and failing to achieve long term career prospects. Former participant Jarred Sferruzzi said his experience has been unsatisfactory and only gave him incentive to seek other jobs. Pas Forgione, Anti Poverty Network SA, said putting the blame onto the unemployed only further stigmatised those long-term unemployed.
