As Australia’s drought continues, it’s not just farmers who are suffering. Our cities are just as drought prone as country areas, but water management issues often only hit the headlines when water restrictions are enforced. Dr. Simon Beecham, Director of Water Engineering at the Institute for Water and Environmental Resource Management at the University of Technology in Sydney, has an interesting proposal to help solve the water crisis facing most large Australian cities. He says that each person can get by on using 100 litres of water per day, as opposed to the 250 litres we’re currently using.
