Union infighting over international obligations

A secret ACTU report has found that Labor’s ‘Fair Work Bill’ doesn’t meet Australia’s obligations to the International Labor Organization. Dissatisfied union leaders pressured the ACTU to commission the report into the bill, which President Sharan Burrow described as, “On balance, a reasonable outcome”. Victorian Secretary of the Electrical Trades Union, Dean Mighell, said Ms Burrows had gone soft on Federal Labor, not wanting to harm her friendships in Canberra. He spoke on why he believes the ACTU should be doing more.
