True or False: How photos lead us to believe in something

New research by the Australian National University has found that photos and images make people believe in a true or false claim. The research has found that people often don’t use their general knowledge or prior knowledge when assessing a true or false claim or information that is presented to them alongside a picture.

So what are the implications of this research when it comes to understanding how our judgement and cognitive abilities are influenced by photos and why are we likely to believe in a piece of misinformation after looking at a picture?
