There continue to be reports that numerous suspects and criminals are beaten in Indonesia on a regular basis. But in the eyes of Indonesian law, torture in prisons and detention centres are not illegal act. Now, the United Nations has called upon the Indonesian Government to make torture a separate crime under the law to punish those offenders.
