Top scientists band together to raise Barrier Reef alarm

The government’s most ambitious plans for cutting emissions may only leave the Great Barrier Reef with a fifty percent chance of survival. That’s the implication contained in a joint statement launched today by Australia’s foremost climate scientists. The figures in the statement suggest that the cuts at the top end of what the government is considering will still leave the reef in serious danger of collapsing.
