The real reasons Aboriginal kids aren’t going to school

A new study has looked into the reasons behind poor attendance rates in Indigenous communities around the country. In a number of key findings the study found that welfare recipiency had very little to do with attendance rates, Rather, health and attitude towards schools were far more likely to be strong indicators of attendance. This begs the question, why does the government continue to talk about linking welfare payments to school attendance?
