Dance is integral to indigenous culture. In 2010 Ngarrindjeri Elder Major Sumner led a ceremonial dance down the Murray and the drought broke. He talks of how dance keeps country alive and healthy and how it is necessary for the dancers to lose themselves in the spirit of the dance by preparing and ‘painting up’ beforehand.
