Indonesia’s new president, Joko Widodo has no experience in foreign affairs, yet he has already made it clear he does not support Australia’s asylum seeker policy. Widodo will be sworn into presidency in September this year, promising attention to welfare issues, a crackdown on corruption, and greater discussion with Australia in regards to asylum seeker policy.
