Prime Minister Tony Abbott has finally succeeded at putting the axe to the carbon tax, so ending over six years of effort to price Australia’s greenhouse gas emissions. Once considered a central pillar of any sensible response to climate change, the move leaves Australia as the only country to have abolished a carbon pricing scheme.
