Tanning beds shut as Victoria announces solarium ban

Sunbed operators will not be compensated as their business becomes illegal but cancer safety advocates are hailing the ban as a sign of great progress and there are calls for solarium bans to be taken further.

Victorian Premier, Ted Baillieu, today announced a ban on commercial solariums in line with two other states as part of a push for a nationwide strategy to phase out tanning beds.
