Amnesty International and other human rights groups have called for a full and independent investigation into the suicides of three men at the US detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The deaths of two Saudis and one Yemeni were confirmed over the weekend and while US authorities have promised a full investigation, their compassion is already in question with onE US official claiming the three men committed suicide as a quote “good PR move to draw attention.” Moves to retract the comments have done little to ally concerns about how open and fair any investigation will be. In a moment we’ll hear from Katie Woods of Amnesty International Australia. But first, Australian Mamdouh Habib spent three years in the facility at Guantanamo bay and knew the men in question. He expressed disbelief at the news to The Wire.
