Australia has vibrant Indigenous film, radio, television, print and multi-media sectors. But are expansion and international recognition hampered by restricted Commonwealth funds? At the Australian Indigenous Communications Association’s Annual General Meeting in Sydney this week, funding for the Indigenous communications industry was under scrutiny. Priscilla Collins who was involved in the working party investigating the feasibility of a National Indigenous Television Service says the plan will go ahead, with or without Government funds.
