Indigenous film-maker Rachel Perkins has just released a new, expanded version of the Black Book that lists Australian Indigenous artists, performers and productions. It’s been five years since the book was first produced, and Rachel says there’s been a dramatic increase in the number of people and groups listed in the Indigenous arts bible. And the Pacific Film and Television Commission is leading a project to see Indigenous documentary concepts come to life on the small screen. The Black Dox initiative is open to all Queensland based Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander writers, producers and directors. Michael Badorrek, Project Manager with the Pacific Film and Television Commission, says the scheme will provide development and production funds for half-hour documentaries to be broadcast on the ABC and/or SBS.
