In Canberra Today Cabinet’s National Security Committee is considering a proposal for Australia to sell Uranium to India, one of four countries that has refused to sign the Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty. With the US already signing a bilateral agreement with India to provide nuclear power assistance, Australia is poised to follow. Greens Senator Christine Milne says agreeing to the proposal will undermine the Treaty even further. But experts say India is a special case and the deal would be acceptable if safeguards were in place. The Wire spoke to Senator Milne on the issue.
