The recent shark attacks at the Whitsunday Islands are keeping beach-goers cautious and lifesavers wary.

However, drones and artificial intelligence are lending a hand: the University of Technology, Sydney and the Westpac Little Ripper Lifesavers have collaborated on Sharkspotter, a system that uses sophisticated drone technology to monitor Australian beaches for sharks.

Sharkspotter has accumulated a number of awards, and offers an efficient, immediate solution to shark threats as Summer approaches.
