A landmark report on aged care has recommended big changes in the way we provide aged care. The Productivity Commission report recommends a new focus on user payments for aged care services. A lot of older people own their own homes, and one of the commission’s suggestions is that people could turn their bricks and mortar into an income stream to contribute to the cost of their care. Some observers are worried about the new market-based proposals; but many of the big players in the aged care sector are getting behind the reforms.
