John Pilger’s film ‘Utopia’ received a massive response when it was debuted in Redfern in January, but the broader reaction has been more muted. AFL star Adam Goodes says that the silence surrounding the film is hurtful. He told The Wire that uncomfortable as these conversations may be, they need to be had for the country to move forward.

‘Utopia’ was debuted in the inner city suburb of Redfern in Sydney, where over 4000 people attended the open air premiere in January. The film has received mixed reviews, with some reviewers saying the doco is presenting an unbalanced or skewed view of Indigenous affairs in Australia.
