Putting the SievX tragedy on the history curriculum

It’s 5 years since the SievX sank on its way to Australia resulting in the deaths of 353 asylum seekers. It’s not on the rememberance calendar for most Australians due to the anti-refugee sentiment and the politics of the time. This fifth anniversary has renewed calls for a permanent memorial to the tragedy, and has also been the occasion for a release of a teaching kit which aims to get high schoool students to examine the event in the context of Australian political history.
