Public housing for Indigenous people in cities scrapped

The federal Government has announced plans to scrap public housing for aboriginal people living in Urban Areas. The Minister for Aboriginal affairs, Mal Brough says the public housing system should be based on people’s ecenomic status rather than the colour of their skin. The Minister says the current system is being abused and wants the funds to be re-directed to remote aboriginal communities. But some community leaders have raised concerns that aboriginal people will not have adequate access to services if their housing is mainstreamed. The Wire spoke to Mick Mundine CEO of the Redfern Aboriginal Housing Company in Sydney about what he thought of the plans
