Refugee advocacy groups are stepping up their campaign for more humane treatment of asylum seekers. They’ve been taking action at Sydney airport this morning, handing out flyers to draw attention to the case of Tamil refugee Leela Krishna. He’s a gay man who is being moved from Villawood detention centre in Sydney, to Maribyrnong in Victoria. Refugee advocate Rachel Evans is a activist who regularly visits Leela at Villawood. She says he’s being moved against his will, but the Department of Immigration and Citizenship says Leela is “fully cooperative with the move.”
