Prisons are a high risk environment during the pandemic

Authorities have been under pressure since the beginning of the pandemic to allow low level prisoners to return to the community. Advocates argue that prisons are a dangerous place to be when a virus is on the loose, and more so for indigenous inmates. Now with a private prison guard diagnosed with Covid 19,  the government has ignored such calls and instead locked down six Victorian prisons, causing distress to  friends and relatives of inmates.
