in 2014, Hamid Kehazaei lost his life due to inadequate medical services whilst detained on Manus Island. A recent 140 page finding from the coroner showed that his death could have easily been prevented. The findings indicate that doctors should have the final say if a patient needs higher care and shouldn’t be determined by non-medically trained Australian Border Force Officials.
