Last Wednesday, Refugee women desperate for visas walked 650km from Immigration Minister Andrew Giles’ office in Melbourne to Parliament House in Canberra.

The group of mainly Iranian and Tamil refugees are demanding permanent protection and visa certainty for all refugees and asylum seekers, and the abolition of the misnamed Fast Track System.

Thousands gathered on the lawns in front of Parliament House last Wednesday welcoming the women after their long walk, to show solidarity and collective resistance against these refugee policies.
