Pressure rises for Mick Keelty over handling of Haneef
No matter how much they will it, the spotlight on the Australian Federal Police regarding former terrorist suspect Dr. Haneef will not go away. As Former Federal Attorney-General Phillip Ruddock today defended the AFP over it’s handling of the Haneef case, others were calling for the AFP Commissioner, Mick Keelty, to step down. This comes just days after the AFP finally announced Dr. Mohamed Haneef was no longer a ‘person of interest’ in their investigation into the attempted bombings in the UK last year. As the AFP close their $8 million investigation, the question remains why they took so long to clear Haneef and were their investigations a result of political pressure?
