Premiers push to Let Them Stay
As people around the country rally in solidarity with those seeking asylum in Australia, state premiers have offered to give refuge to the 267 asylum seekers who face deportation to Manus Island and Nauru. The group includes 91 children, 37 babies born in Australia, families and single people who were brought here from Nauru to be treated for medical issues. Along with state leaders, churches have offered sanctuary for these people and doctors have spoken out about the dangers of keeping children in detention centres. For refugee rights activists and hoards of Australians rallying in capital cities tonight, it is now up to the federal government to #letthemstay.
