Vaccine may prevent, treat deadly Invasive Streptococcal Diseases

Researchers from Griffith University’s Institute for Glycomics are beginning human clinical trials for their potential streptococcal infection vaccine.

This news comes just in time, with Cape York suffering from a strep outbreak that lead to kidney disease in three individuals.

The vaccine, if successful, will help the 160,000 people that die from Invasive Streptococcal Diseases and Toxic Shock Syndrome each year.
