Today, the Federal opposition leader Kevin Rudd outlined the second installment of his party’s approach to industrial relations, vowing if he wins government, to keep strict conditions preventing union leaders from entering workplaces as well as remove the award structure for staff on more than $100,000. Meanwhile mail deliveries could be threatened as Australia Post employees threaten industrial action in their push to improve pay and conditions. Australia Post employee Elizabeth Lam, has applied to the Australian Industrial Relations Commission to commence as a secret ballot for protected industrial action. Lam, who earns $37,000 per annum is lodging the papers on behalf of 20,000 other postal workers. The Communications, Electrical and Plumbing Union the CEPU, represents the workers.
