Under new legislation, Australians are now compelled to stay at home unless they have a legitimate and reasonable excuse such as grocery shopping or exercising.

People not complying face an on the spot fine that in some states can be over $1000 AUD. But the enforcement of these regulations comes down to police discretion. Is the liberty of individuals potentially at unnecessary risk from over-expanded police power?
