Construction work on the Carmichael site in Queensland continues, as State and Federal legislation defines mining as an “essential industry”. Meanwhile in India a gigantic coal fired power station is being rapidly built by Adani to receive coal from the company’s mine in Queensland. Adani’s tactics in acquiring the land are being resisted, and several court actions have been launched. Local people are objecting to the environmental effects of 24 hour construction work, and there are complaints of the water supply being contaminated because of drilling in the area.
