The Defence Department launched in June a program to provide teachers to support students design plans for submarine nuclear propulsion.

The aim of the Nuclear-Powered Propulsion Challenge program is to build critical thinking and STEM skills to school students between Year SEVEN and YEAR 12, according to the Department.

However, some education unions believe the program is ‘brainwashing’ students and it’s against the values in the Australian curriculum.
