Last week, the NT government announced it would establish a lobbyist register. The government also announced the defunding of two environmental organisations.
Both the Arid Lands Environment Centre and the Environment Centre NT previously received 100 thousand dollars in funding each year.
They believe the Finocchiaro government are fearful of scrutiny from environment groups.
