Two Traditional owners from the Kimberley in Western Australia have travelled to Sydney to call for a halt to Woodside’s gas operations North of Broome. Woodside LNG Petroleum has resumed land clearing, following the arrest of 25 protesters including Indigenous elders, last week. One of the elders, Kerrianne Cox, has told a forum in Sydney that the debate needs to move beyond Native Title. She says they will meet with many other Indigenous clans in Byron Bay to discuss their calls for a new era of Aboriginal land rights.
