The National Congress of Australia’s First Peoples say they’ve been left out of the process of determining the Referendum on constitutional recognition. Despite being elected by over 9000 ATSI people, not one of their members were selected by the Federal Government to sit on the Referendum Council. A cross-section of promiment Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians have been appointed but board members of First Congress say their exclusion is a sign of disrespect towards engaging them in the recognition process.
