Slumping literacy standards in NAPLAN results have caused a fresh round of debate about Australia’s education system.

South Australia was the worst performing mainland across most areas.

Politicians, researchers, and professionals are continuing to search for an answer to the increasingly complicated situation, with pledges of extra funding coming from the state government, and a radical update of the system being put forward by the opposition.
