Should prisoners be given the opportunity to set their minds free, while their bodies are incarcerated? Anna Adams, a meditation practitioner, believes that they should. Adams teaches Vipassana meditation in NSW, and argues that Australia should follow in the steps of other countries that have allowed the technique to be taught in prisons. In America, a maximum security prison in Donaldson Alabama trialled a Vipassana retreat. Documented by a film crew it demonstrated the rehabilitative benefits of meditation for prisoners.
