The violence in Syria has surged this week and hundreds of families have fled a neighborhood in Homs, where at least 47 women and children were killed. The attack has been described as a massacre by both activists and the Syrian government.

The Syrian government has blamed what it calls “armed terrorist groups”, saying that this has been their ploy to sway the international community in their favour. But there are many activists who say that the Syrian government is responsible for the violence.
