Finding sanity by Greg de Moore and Ann Westmore

In the years before the Second World War, medical treatments for mental health were virtually non-existent.

Moved by a desire to relieve the torment of the mentally ill, Australian doctor John Cade discovered that Lithium seemed to help calm the storm raging within his patients.

His story is told by Greg de Moore and Ann Westmore in the new book Finding Sanity.

With next week marking the beginning of National Mental Health Week we pay tribute to this pioneer in the field.
