Australia is known as a sporting nation, but migrants, refugees and indigenous Australians are often left out of the picture. Statistics show people from non-English- speaking backgrounds are far less likely to play sports, and don’t have the same opportunities to be involved. Sports Without Borders is a not for profit organisation, set up to help young people with migrant backgrounds get into sports. They’ve been holding a conference today in Melbourne to look at how disadvantaged groups can be empowered to get involved.
