With a week to go until the Council of Australian Governments meeting, the Prime Minister today offered the states another health care bribe. Kevin Rudd’s $739 million bid to take over aged care is conditional on the Premiers accepting his plan for a national health and hospital system. The Labor Government argues federal control of aged care will end the blame game, but health experts say the reforms are piecemeal and may not in themselves improve service delivery.
