The decision to award the nobel peace prize to President Barack Obama has drawn a diverse range of comments from support to complete rejection. Former foreign minister Alexander Downer labeled the move as a farce whilst Greens Leader Bob Brown has applauded it. Obama has promised significant change in the Middle East and scaled back the militaristic rhetoric towards the Muslim world. However so far not much has actually changed on the ground. So why did he receive the award?
