It’s expected the Abbott government will shortly announce a commitment to assist the United States in an aerial bombing campaign of Syria. France has already indicated they will begin air strikes on Islamic State militants in Syria, while the UK has authorised aerial drone strikes which have killed two Britons fighting with ISIS. But Russia is backing the Assad regime, seeing it as the only viable alternative to ISIS control. But will further air strikes make any difference to the refugee crisis?
