Indigenous Marathon Project turns to helping Sandy’s victims

A group of Indigenous marathon runners spent their Sunday a little differently than expected after the New York Marathon was called off in the wake of storm Sandy. The group of six male and two female runners from Indigenous communities across Australia were pushing ahead with plans to enter the world’s largest footrace as part of the Indigenous Marathon Project.

But a book launched on Monday claims to offer a counter narrative to the Government’s version of events. Entitled ‘A Decision to Discriminate’, the book documents evidence of strong resistance to the policy among aboriginal communities.
