Indigenous Family Care Centres Hit Hard by Budget Cuts

The Federal Government have withdrawn funding from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Child Care and Family Centres across rural Australia, leaving the centres and their communities in the lurch.

Only last year the government set aside $300 million to establish high quality facilities in order to provide family care and basic health services to Indigenous communities. Now some of the centres won’t even have the chance to open their doors as the future of the funding is uncertain, and the chances of getting state or mainstream funding are unlikely.
