Indigenous community groups launch response to NT intervention plan

The first health team arrived today in the central Australia community of Hermannsburg – where doctors will perform health checks on children, as part of the government’s moves to deal with child abuse. Meanwhile, a group of Indigenous communities today released a report that aims to regain the initiative on how best to run remote Indigenous communities. The report by the Combined Aboriginal Organizations of the Northern Territory calls for a comprehensive development plan to be implemented to help tackle not only the problem of child abuse but wide spread Indigenous disadvantage.
