Wayne Coles-Janess has gathered acclaim and awards overseas for his documentary “In the Shadow of the Palms”. He describes it as a non-political slice of social history covering the end of Saddam’s era, and in the movie he follows a series of characters and examines how their lives are changed after the 2003 US occupation. He says it has been rejected by the film festivals in four Australian cities for what he believes are political reasons.
