A new report commissioned by Catholic Health Australia has shown that the health of Australians is connected strongly with their economic status. Poor Australians are much more likely to suffer from serious health problems than the wealthy, and not finishing high school is a greater risk factor than any biological factors for the contraction of heart disease. As the report was released, the Public Health Association of Australia kicked off a conference on the theme of Poverty, Disadvantage and Indigenous Health.
